From 13 to 20 May 2026, Together With Refugees was proud to be part of A Million Acts of Hope — a celebration of everyday kindness, care and connection happening across the UK.
It is easy for people to believe that the UK is more divided than ever when watching the news or scrolling through social media. But May gave us all the hope we need: people across the UK show up for each other, their neighbours and their communities every single day.
A Million Acts of Hope was a national campaign that brought together tens of thousands of people up and down the country who show up for each other every single day. With over 250 charity partners spanning diverse sectors and thousands of community actions, towns and cities became beacons of compassion and hope.
Hope made visible
From Heya Nottingham CIC, which spent the week sharing coffee, cake, conversations, and messages of hope with refugees and asylum-seeking women and families, to an Entraide’s intimate gathering in Solihull celebrating community, to the Afghan community in Walsall sharing traditional dishes at their local hospital to thank NHS staff for their hard work, compassion and dedication.
Online, orange hearts, videos of hope, and celebrations of volunteers dominated our social media feeds.
Our coalition made hope visible. Thank you!
