From 13 to 20 May 2026, Together With Refugees is proud to take part in A Million Acts of Hope, a celebration of everyday kindness, care and connection happening across the UK.
Watching the news or looking at social media, it’s easy for people to believe that the UK is more divided than ever. The voices of those who seek to spread hate, harm our communities and separate us are loud. But we know that the reality is millions of people across the UK show up for each other, their neighbours and their communities every single day.
What is A Million Acts of Hope?
A Million Acts of Hope is about celebrating the small, powerful actions that make a difference in our communities on a daily basis. From coaching children’s sports and volunteering at food banks to growing community gardens and helping neighbours, these acts rarely make headlines – but they represent the true spirit of Britain: practical, caring and quietly transformational.
The initiative brings people together from all walks of life, making visible the positive actions that create strong, healthy and caring communities. By joining forces for one special week, these often unseen acts of hope are shared across the UK, inspiring connection and solidarity.
When is it?
The Week of Action runs from 13 to 20 May 2026, during which hundreds of community and faith groups, plus charities big and small, will come together to inspire A Million Acts of Hope across the UK.
How is Together With Refugees involved?
Together With Refugees is a core partner of A Million Acts of Hope, working with many civil society organisations across the UK, including City of Sanctuary, IMIX, NACCOM and Refugee Week.
We know that acts of hope drive our members in all that they do but these stories are too often left untold. Now we can celebrate them and show that there is far more that connects us than divides us.
What can you do?
As part of this important initiative, you can:
- Celebrate Everyday Acts of Hope – we know that you are already making acts of hope every day in your work. But they often go unnoticed. Now we can celebrate them together!
- Make a Tree of Hope – thank the hopeful heroes in your community and celebrate the acts of hope that have inspired you by sharing them on orange hearts in a tree of hope in your community.
- Lead a Walk of Hope – whether a walk with your colleagues or a gathering of your whole community, grab your orange hearts and walk with hope.
- Sign and promote the UK’s biggest thank you card
To support our members, we have worked with our partners to create a toolkit with practical ideas, resources and guidance. This includes tips and tools on how to shout about all the kind, compassionate and collective acts that are happening in communities across the UK – because by showing the collective power of many, we can create change.
Join us in signing up to A Million Acts of Hope.
Together we can make the compassion and solidarity in communities across the country impossible to ignore!
