With the government’s chilling new plans to erode asylum rights, communities across the country came together this December to stand with refugees.
Whether it was displaying one of more than 12,000 posters in their community, attending a local community event, signing the joint letter to the Home Office, writing to their MP, baking TWR orange heart cakes and biscuits or collecting MP Christmas cards to show support for refugees, we made it loud and clear the government’s plans do not represent us.
Trowbridge in Wiltshire had their first ever event supporting refugees, hosted in the Town Hall and complete with wonderful Ukrainian folk singers and more than 30 people joining in
Coventry saw more than 100 people join in with their Communities Together With Refugees day of action in the Memorial Park – even with the rain!
Groups in Manchester, Lancaster the West Midlands and South West all had their work featured in local press and on the radio – with more than 15 pieces of coverage across the weekend
More than 12,000 posters were ordered and groups ran creative card actions engaging more than 25 MPs and local councils.
