Abergavenny – Oppose the government’s nationality and borders bill

23rd October, 11.30 – 2.30PM, St John’s Square near the Post Office

Meeting with banners, information and orange hearts (the symbol of the Together With Refugees coalition). We will be giving out postcards to send to MPs and other decision makers, showing them our opposition to this bill and our wish for a kinder, fairer immigration system. More info here.

Bath – Show Your Heart Action

20th October, 5PM, Bath Abbey outside the main entrance

Bath for Europe are supporting Bath Welcomes Refugees and a coalition of organisations under Together With Refugees, to draw attention to the Nationality and Borders Bill currently going through parliament. More info here.

Brighton & Hove – Show Your Heart for Refugees

17th October, 2PM-3.30PM, On the beach by the i360, Hove

Join us on Brighton beach to form a huge, human, orange heart in protest at the ‘anti-refugee’ Nationality and Borders Bill and to say that we welcome refugees! Wear something orange, or one of the t-shirts we provide. More info here, flyer here.

Birmingham – Action stall

19th – 23rd October, 12-4PM St Martins in the Bull Ring

Volunteers will be giving out stickers, oranges, badges and postcards to raise awareness.

Bradford – Rally

20th October, 5 – 6PM, gathering at the ‘City Park’ sign to the left of the Cake’ole Cafe

Please join us if you possibly canpost on social media and invite your friends, family, colleagues, local community! Our friends from Asylum Matters will provide placards and other resources, but why not produce some of your own? Templates are available here.

Bristol – Protest Against Anti-Refugee Bill

21st October, 12pm-1pm, by the waterfall in Bristol City Centre

Bristol Defend Asylum Seekers Campaign will be holding a protest to raise awareness of the Nationality and Borders Bill on Thursday 21st October 

Coventry – Oppose the Nationality and Borders Bill: No to hostile environment

20th October, 13.30 – 14.30PM, Broadgate, Coventry

We say Refugees Welcome Here, No One Is Illegal! Come and join us to show your support for the right to asylum.
A vigil will also be held to remember Henok, a 23 year old Eritrean asylum seeker who was found dead at the Caludon Centre psychiatric unit in August. More info here.

Frome – Together with Refugees

23rd October, 11.45AM, meet at the pedestrian bridge by the library

Join us to show your support for asylum seekers and protest against the Nationality and Borders Bill. We will be floating origami boats down the river Frome at 12.00 noon, in solidarity with people as they cross the dangerous English Channel in their small boats. We will have letters to sign to our MP. Boats will be provided, but do make your own if you’d like to.

Glasgow – Scotland: Together With Refugees

Hastings – Vigil

19th October, 5pm, Hastings Pier

To join the National Week of Action concerning the Nationality and Borders bill and ask for a fairer and kinder asylum system, we invite everyone to come to a vigil for all those braving, and sometimes succumbing to the dangerous seas to seek safety because there’s no other option.

Lancaster – Rally

20th October, 4.30PM, Dalton Square, Lancaster

A rally to protest against the Government’s Nationalities and Borders Bill. We are asking people to bring an orange heart. Contact: admin@lancaster.cityofsanctuary.org 

London – Refugees Welcome Rally

20th October, 4.30-6.30PM, Parliament Square, London

Hear from refugees and add your voice to the movement to welcome them. The event is for everyone who cares about the rights of people to seek asylum, and we ask you to bring your own banners with your own message! More details here, you can also e-mail your MP to meet you at the rally here.

Penrith – Show your Heart event

20th October, 4PM-6PM, outside NatWest by the clock tower, Penrith.

Please wear an item of orange clothing if you have any. Be creative and make your own orange heart and bring it along or PERN will provide banners/ posters with hearts for you to hold. Posters and flyers are also available in the centre of Penrith from the Alhambra cinema, Restore Shop, Another Weigh, Kos Cut Barber and Figaro Barber.  

Manchester – Celebrating Journeys Festival

15th October, 6.30-8:00PM – 23rd October Holy Name Church, 339 Oxford Road

Joined by RAS Voices and Asylum Matters who will talk about how you can take action to help scrap the #AntiRefugeeBill ahead of a week of action to oppose the bill which runs alongside the festival during the week of 18-24 October. More info here, full Manchester festival guide here.

Manchester – Rally against the Nationality and Borders Bill

23rd October, 2PM, St Peters Square, M2 5PD

Come and join UNISON and supporting organisations to join together to protest and speak out against the Bill. Further details to follow. In particular, people with lived experience of the asylum system and the groups supporting them are welcome to get in touch if you would like to speak at / support the rally. Manchester – Migration: A Human Story

20th October – 24th October, Peoples History Museum, Left Bank, Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3ER

Features new interpretation, animations, a newly commissioned banner and a family friendly passport trail exploring migration stories past and present. There will also be opportunities around the museum to find out more about the bill and to write to the Home Secretary expressing your concerns. 

Online – Orange heart Craftivism event

Crafting orange hearts on zoom to send to MPs along with a hand-written letter asking them to challenge the Borders Bill. Register here

Online – STAR workshop: Stop the anti-refugee bill

At this online event, you will hear from expert speakers about how the bill will impact the lives of people seeking safety in the UK. More details here.

Oxford – Prayer vigil

20th October, 12:30 – 2PM, New Road Baptist Church, Bonn Square

We’ll be praying for refugees, people welcoming them, and a fairer, humane and effective immigration policy. Join us!

Oxford – Protest

20th October, 5.15pm, Carfax, Oxford

Stoke on Trent – Solidarity Rally

Join us in Stoke as we come together for the #TogetherWithRefugees Week of Action against the government’s vicious Nationality & Borders Bill. Bring banners and placards. Show your support for local refugees and everyone affected by racist immigration policies. More details here.

Stroud – Action on Anti-Refugee Bill

18th October, 11:30am at Siobhan Bailey’s Constituency Office

Siobhan Baillie’s constituents will present her with well over a hundred signed postcards showing how worried they are about the Nationality and Borders Bill, which is currently going through parliament.

Swansea – Light up orange

18th October, 6:45PM, Swansea Guildhall and Waterfront Museum

Join together at the Guildhall and walk to the museum to show support for all refugees.

Tynemouth

20th October, 12.30 pm, King Edwards Bay, Tynemouth

Join us to show your support for refugees and to show that we are a small village with a big heart. Orange clothes and/or orange hearts are welcome but not essential! See a flyer here.

Wales – Nation of Sanctuary and the Nationality and Borders Bill
