Three easy ways to join the Valentine’s Day action

7 February 2024

This Valentine’s Day (14th February) the House of Lords will be debating the Rwanda legislation, which means we have an important opportunity to come together to show that communities up and down the country welcome refugees. With our Valentine’s Day action, we are making clear to our political leaders we need a new plan for refugees – one that is fair, kind and gets the system working again, for everyone.

Here are three easy ways you can join in with the Valentine’s Day action:

  1. Bring people together to make refugee solidarity Valentine’s cards, or do the activity with a group that’s already meeting. Take lots of photos (with people’s permission) and share on social media using the hashtag #FairBeginsHere.

  2. Get creative with orange hearts – create an orange heart display in your community centre, school, office, library or place of worship. Invite people to show their support for people seeking safety by adding messages of love, welcome and solidarity. Take lots of photos (with people’s permission) and share on social media using the hashtag #FairBeginsHere.

  3. Share the love on social media by posting orange heart photos, videos, selfies and messages of love and support for refugees with the hashtag #FairBeginsHere. Create your own content or we have some images you can share.

To ensure your activities contribute to the national picture, please email us your plans and use the hashtags #FairBeginsHere and #TogetherWithRefugees on social media.
