TYNEMOUTH TOGETHER WITH REFUGEES: MARCH FOR COMPASSION

On Sunday 23 April, Tynemouth Together With Refugees organised a march for compassion. This walk brought together different charity organisations, refugees, volunteers and all those who believe that a fairer asylum system is possible.

Penny Henry, the organiser of the march, said “We are here standing in solidarity with refugees and asylum seekers in the face of some new legislation that’s coming out as we speak called the Illegal Migration Bill. It will essentially put a ban on people seeking safety in this country. We feel this does not represent us as a society or a country.”

In this small village with a big 🧡, the people marched from Tynemouth to Whitley Bay, holding signs with messages of solidarity, and claimed “Together we will keep fighting the #RefugeeBanBill and for a UK where people seeking safety are welcomed and protected.”

We have collected some beautiful images to share below.
